Peebles-based artist Michael Jessing has produced an original artwork intended to become a huge mural that will become a permanent work of public art in the heart of the town. The mural will transform the blank gable end of the Bake House in Pennel’s Courtyard, creating a wall of colour featuring historic Peebles characters from King David to a family enjoying the High Street today.
This afternoon event is an opportunity to meet Michael and share his enthusiasm as he talks about the inspiration behind The Peebles Mural and the process of creating it. The artwork was commissioned by Peebles Creative Place 2014. Funds were raised to prepare the site and translate the image from paper into a permanent outdoor feature. The Peebles Mural is now a new, permanent public art work just off Peebles High Street.
Michael’s remarkable designs are on display in the Eastgate Theatre café.
Update: The Peebles Mural is now complete - visit Pennels Courtyard, just of the High Street and be amazed and intrigued.
